Red Flags A11y
This is here for folks that may have difficulty reading text in images. I’ve attached the images below, but these two pamphlets are commonly passed around the recreational hypnosis community as warnings for spotting poor behavior. If you don’t know how the F you landed on this page, I have longer writeups for both hypnotist and subject safety.
Red Flags - Subjects
Section titled “Red Flags - Subjects”- In a Rush - Subjects who try to get trance from every tist they talk to are more likely to be undiscerning. This an be an issue if what you deliver does not match what they imagine trance to be. It can also erode your mojo and enjoyment of the hobby.
- Limited Engagement - Does the subject only appear in hypnosis requests, with regularly repeated posts looking for “total brainwashing”? This is treating tists like trance dispensers and shows unrealistic expectations.
- Willfully Naive - Subjects who are not interested in finding out about hypnosis themselves put both of you at risk when something unexpected occurs. If they have no knowledge, it’s ALL unexpected!
- Demands Domination - Many subjects are interested in a D/s dynamic in hypnosis. However, some do not recognize that not all tists desire or consent to this type of play.
- No Limits - Subjects who state that they have no limits are opening themselves and the tist up to serious misunderstandings or consent issues. It is not possible to fully negotiate with a subject who is not aware of themselves or basic practical concerns.
- Dishonesty - Undisclosed psychiatric, medical, or mental health conditions impair the level to which fully-informed consent can be entered into. Tists need to know what risks they are taking and how, or if, to adapt.
- Only Talks Hypno - “Getting to know you” should be as a whole person, not just as as a trance provider. If the subject only talks about hypno or play when chatting, it is much more likely that difficulties will occur and they may not be interested in finding solutions.
- The Blame Game - If a subject does not try to develop agency, or has unrealistic expectations about trance and tists, the problem can be seen as the sole fault of the tist.

Red Flags - Tists
Section titled “Red Flags - Tists”- Targets a Type - Predators tend to target the vulnerable, caring and available. Appearing overly sympathetic before they know you, telling you sob stories of “crazy” and “needy” former partners or only talking to singles is a common pattern.
- Limited Engagement - Does the tist only appear on servers in Hypno Requests and ask-to-DM? Although some people are shy on public servers, some only come on servers to find the next subject.
- Becomes Angry - If questioning their approach, the terms of play or not being available when they want makes them angry, it may be a sign of a one-way dynamic that is not healthy.
- Demands Submission - Many predators wrongly equate being a subject with being submissive. They may target you submitting and obeying without ever negotiating a D/s dynamic.
- Poor Negotiation - Tists who don’t negotiate should be avoided. Even CNC involves some negotiation. The tist should regularly check for enthusiastic consent, including during trance. Tists should never try to change your limits (“negotiate up”) during trance.
- Demands Exclusivity - An early red flag is the tist insisting you cut off contact with other tists or even other subjects or sections of the community. Having only 1 tist is fine, isolating you is not.
- Only Talks Hypno - “Getting to know you” should be as a whole person, not just as a subject. If the tist only talks about hypno or play when chatting, it is likely that difficulties will occur, they see you as replaceable and may not be interested in solutions.
- The Fast Chase - On non-hook-up sites, there are far more available subs than teists. If a tist is chasing you quickly and urgently, ask yourself why.
